Information about MiFID II
General
The operation of markets in financial instruments is governed by:
- Directive 2014/65/ΕU of the European Parliament and the Council on markets in financial instruments (MiFID II), as transposed into Greek legislation with Law 4514/2018, as in force.
- Regulation (ΕU) 600/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council on markets in financial instruments (MiFIR).
- Their delegated acts.
The regulatory framework applies to all entities active in markets in financial instruments, such as investment firms, operators of trading venues and competent authorities. The aim of the regulatory framework is to establish uniform operation rules in all EU member states to:
- Have more transparency in market operation.
- Boost competition within the European Union.
- Provide a higher level of protection to investors.
In this context, investment firms have to classify their clients based on applicable criteria, give them information on specific issues and notify them on the order execution policy they are following.
